Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was founded in 1958 under the able and foresighted leadership of Late Shri.Vinayakrao Pandurang Patil, Ex.Ministor for Co-operation and Ex. President, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. The institute was established with the prime object to cater the needs of economically and educationally backward and downtrodden masses of this region. With this object, Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal runs 124 Primary Schools, Middle Schools, CBSE Patterns of English Schools, Colleges, Hostels and Professional Institutes such as Pharmacy, Law, Computer, Engineering, Polytechnics and IT etc. Recently the Institute was duly honoured for its achievements in the field of education and social reformation and awarded as an “Excellent Education Society” by the Government of Maharashtra in 2001. Mandal has successfully arranged 77th Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan. Mandal organizes Orientation Programmes, Workshops, Symposium, and Conferences etc. for the quality improvement for teachers.

The foundation of this largest educational institute in Marathwada was nothing but a zealous attempt to provide light of knowledge to those who are suffering in the darkness of ignorance. The institute being with a motto of “Tamso ma Jyotirgamaya” meaning let the darkness of ignorance be driven away. Nizam’s rule was solely responsible for the backwardness of the region. After liberation from Nizams rule the growing aspirations of the people of this region begin to tread the path of progress and the foundation of this institute should be viewed as a part of this march towards progress.
